Shipping Box

Shipping Instructions

I look forward to helping you with your guitar repair.
Please follow these step by step packing instructions to help insure that your guitar arrives here safely. You will need to obtain a shipping box to pack and ship your guitar in it's hard case. Please try to get a Taylor or C. F. Martin Guitar shipping box from one of your local dealers. Most dealers are happy to give you a shipping box if they have one left over from a recent shipment. These shipping boxes are very sturdy and do a great job of protecting the instruments during shipping. Full size guitars require a box measuring: 21 x 9 x 48 inches. PLEASE, do not use a thin, weak, or flimsy box and do not fold a piece of cardboard around your case as a makeshift box.

Step By Step Shipping
  1. If you have a pickup in your guitar that is powered with a 9-volt battery, please remove the battery. If your guitar has the Expression System electronics that are powered with 2 AA batteries or 9 volt, please leave them installed while shipping.
2. You Should de-tune the strings a whole step, but do not de-tune them completely slack.
3. Remove any loose items that you may have stored in your hard case.
4. Place your guitar IN ITS HARD CASE.
5. Once the guitar is in the hard case, it can be helpful to fill the empty space inside the case and beneath the headstock with enough bubble wrap or balled up newspaper to support the headstock during shipping.
6. The guitar shipping box is intended to stand upright. Line the bottom of the shipping box with at least 4 INCHES of packing material, such as bubble wrap or balled up newspaper . If you have the molded plastic or folded cardboard inserts, you will NOT need to line the bottom of the box with additional packing material.
7. Place your guitar (in its hard case) in the shipping box standing upright and centered in the inner space of the box.
8. Fill any and all voids around the case inside the box with more bubble wrap or balled up newspaper. Use enough packing material so that the case cannot move in any direction inside the shipping box.

9. Tape the box up well at both ends to make sure that it is secure.
10. Ship the package fully insured for the current suggested retail list price of your guitar with case.

We use and recommend UPS Ground service. The most cost-effective method of shipping is to take your packed-up guitar DIRECTLY TO THE CUSTOMER COUNTER AT YOUR LOCAL UPS DEPOT (usually located in an industrial park). You can call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 to locate the nearest UPS depot to you. Independent retail pack-and-ship stores may be able to pack and ship the guitar in its hard case for you, but they tack on extra charges and your shipping costs can easily quadruple.
